Jr. Knights Atom AA Qualify for Provincial Championships
Wednesday, March 28, 2007
The Green Junior Knights topped off an outstanding season with the win. They went through the regular season undefeated, posting a record of 24 wins and 4 ties in the Alliance AA league. In the playoffs, they only lost one game, to the Junior Knights Gold team in the first game of the final series. After that wake-up call, they won 4 straight games for the win. The Alliance Championship now qualifies the team for the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Championships for the Provincial crown. They will face the winners from Northern Ontario, Sault Ste. Marie, plus the GTHL(Toronto) and OMHA champions. The Knights have previously played most
of the teams they expect to face in the Provincials and expect the Soo (International Silver Stick Champions) will be the toughest competition.
The Alliance win capped an impressive season for the Junior Knights, who have won three tournaments and have been finalists in a fourth tournament (ironically against the Soo).
The London Junior Knights Green team is led by head coach, Steve Check, and includes: Dalton Petteplace, Chris Hennigar, Blaine Yonemitsu, Anthony Kotsovos, Nick Orenczuk, Craig Hinschberger, Zack Tierney, Ocean
Check, Logan McKee, Matt Carlton, Michael Worby, Matthew Gabriel, Ryan Boll, Brandon Papp, Dillon Amaral, and Riley Brown. Larry Hennigar, Jim Brown, Joey Facca, Sean Tierney and Dave Worby serve as the assistant coaches. |
